Xiaomi announces Mi4 with 2.5 GHz quad-core processor and 3GB Ram

China-based handset maker, Xiaomi has formally announced its new flagship smartphone - Mi 4 - in China. The 3G version Xiaomi Mi 4 will be available from July 29 while the 4G LTE enabled version is expected to be available in September. The Mi 4 is priced at roughly Rs 19,280 for 16 GB and Rs 24,100 for 64 GB model.

The Xiaomi Mi4 measures 68.55mm by 239.2mm by 8.9mm thick, the device features a 5 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 441 pixels per inch, the display features 16 million colors. The handset is powered by a quad core Snapdragon 801 mobile processor from Qualcomm, it also features an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics and 3GB of RAM.

Mi 4 offers a 13 megapixel camera featuring Sony IMX214 sensor at the rear along with LED flash and autofocus. This camera offers f/1.8 aperture, real-time HDR and 4K resolution video recording. In the front, it has an 8 megapixel camera with Sony IMX219 sensor and f/1.8 aperture and 80 degree wide angle coverage.

This phone is not supported for microSD card. The company has not clarified the version so we presume that the Mi 4 too will ship with MIUI version 5 based on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. Meanwhile, the company has promised to release the MIUI version 6 on 16 August later this year. There’s all the usual connectivity features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE Radio etc. and a 3,080 mAh battery which should be enough to last you an entire day. It is powered by 3080 mAh battery.

The company has included TV transmitter with the phone and even offers a fitness band for $13. With Xiaomi entering new markets like India, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia, the company will surely give some tough competition to global players like Samsung and Apple in these emerging markets.
