Blackberry to launch 'Classic' smartphone with new OS

Canadian smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry is bringing back the good old memories with it 'Classic' phone. CEO John Chen dropped the details of the hugely-anticipated device recently which has set the expectation soaring. The BlackBerry Classic will be unveiled on December 17th in NYC, Frankfurt and Singapore. The Classic costs £350 in the UK and $450 in the US.

The phone comes with some new features, however does not include gimmicky features like finger print scanner or heart rate sensor.

Equipped with a 3.5 inch touch screen, BlackBerry classic would also feature 2GB ram, 8MP and 2MP front and rear camera. It has also been reported that the BlackBerry has started taking pre-orders for the device at a price of 450 dollars.

Unlike the previous generation BlackBerry Smartphones, this one is touted to boast the latest version of BlackBerry OS 10.3.1, which is rumored to bring a major change in the notifications profiles, as well as improvements in camera and battery. In addition to this, the phone will also come pre-loaded with BlackBerry World, and the Amazon Appstore which will let a user access Android games and apps.

The phone will most likely be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 dual-core chipset clocked at 1.5GHz, which is dated if compared against the processor seen on mid range smartphones of other top brands. This BB smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel primary camera on the rear panel and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, which should be good for clicking selfies. The phone packs in 2GB of RAM, which is coupled with 16GB of internal storage space that can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
