Microsoft partners with Truecaller to launch live caller id for windows phone

Swdish startup Truecaller has announced a partnership with Microsoft that will see its Live Caller ID feature arrive for Windows Phone users. The feature lets the user identify unknown numbers during incoming calls even if the caller is not stored in the phonebook.

“We are very happy to be able to support Truecaller in bringing this great functionality globally to Windows Phone for the first time,” said Navdeep Manaktala, Head - Applications & Developer Ecosystem at Microsoft Mobile Devices & Services.

The new feature is available for all new Lumia devices. Truecaller version 4.2 is the latest update which is only available for Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Cyan and above.

Truecaller was always available for Windows phones but the Caller ID feature was only restricted to missed calls. The new update will allow users to identify numbers in real time.

“Microsoft devices are used by millions across the globe and the openness of the platform allowed us to create something exclusively for its users,” said Nami Zarringhalam, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Truecaller.
