Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to launch on September 3

Samsung is finally gearing up for the launch of the next version of the phablet, the Galaxy Note 4. According to the Korean Times, Samsung will unveil the new phone in Berlin on September 3. Samsung seems to rush the unveiling in order to combat the rival Apple’s iPhone phablet, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, which is due to unveil in the same month.

"Samsung Note 4 will have far better specifications than the Galaxy S5 smartphone," Korea Times quoted Samsung Electro-Mechanics Chief Financial Officer Kwon Young-noh, as saying. It may be mentioned Samsung Electro supplies Samsung's camera modules.

"The Note 4 will be the first smartphone to incorporate an ultraviolet sensor. The sensor can measure UV radiation and offer index levels to Note 4 users inside the 'S Health' application," said an executive at Samsung's software partner based in Korea told the publication.

The phablet will be powered by Qualcomm processor chips and support fourth-generation long-term evolution (LTE) mobile wireless technologies, and LTE-advanced technology might be made available for users in Korea, he added.

SamMobile reports on the listing which reveals a display with a 2560x1440 pixel (QHD) resolution. According to earlier reports it will be a 5.7-inch panel, the same size as the current Galaxy Note 3. That would result in a pixel density of around 515 pixels-per-inch (ppi).

A fresh batch of rumoured specs has popped up via the oft-reliable SamMobile and its unnamed sources. While the report was unable to reveal the display size, it did confirm that the handset will feature a QHD resolution AMOLED display.

It will also pack a Ultraviolet (UV) sensor, but it's not clear what this will be used for, but one plausible explanation is in modifying the display's behaviour when UV light is detected in certain concentrations, ie: when the sun is shining on it. This is all just speculation on our part, of course.
