BMW launches Active Hybrid 7 at Rs 1,35,00000

Luxury carmaker BMW on Wednesday introduced the ActiveHybrid 7 that seamlessly integrates the highly efficient combustion engine and energy-saving electric motor to increase the efficiency. Imported as completely built-up (CBU) car, the ActiveHybrid 7 priced Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom). It will will initially be sold in only three cities-Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

The German carmaker is marketing it as a new level in efficiency. It is a first for the company as this luxury saloon will be the first hybrid car from the German manufacturer’s line-up to be sold in India.  It promises emission-free, pure electric driving and intelligent energy management.

The ActiveHybrid 7 gets top of the line luxury features such as keyless entry and ignition, front and rear parking sensors, four-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, a rear-view camera, navigation system and 10-speaker sound system with satellite radio and a USB/iPod integration system. Using the Driving Experience Control switch, the driver can choose ECO PRO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+ driving modes.

Active Hybrid 7 is powered by an inline six cylinder engine, displacing 3.0 liters. The air is pumped in using TwinPower turbocharger to produce 320 hp power. The 55 hp electric motor kicks in as and when required and takes the total system output to 354 hp. Electric power plays a role of assistant and gasoline engine retains the charge of pacing the 2 tonne heavy car to the electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Torque of 450 Nm is capable of accelerating this car to 100 kmph, from standstill, in 5.7 sec. On the down side hybrid system eats up 140 liter of boot space.

The all-new BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is available in alpine white as non-metallic paintwork and in nine other metallic paint schemes, namely glacier silver, havanna, sapphire black, cashmere silver, milano beige, space grey, imperial blue brilliant effect, sophisto grey II brilliant effect and mineral white.
