Saavn 3.0 now available for Android With revamped UI

The Saavn 3.0 app for Android has hit the Google Play store in India and is available for download boasting of a revamped UI and several new features. This particular version of the application was launched for the iOS platform last month.

The new Saavn app brings the best music front and center, with easy access to songs in 11 languages and direct entry to Saavn Radio from a rich, tiled homescreen. The update also includes full-screen album art in the Saavn player.

"India is an Android-driven market, and 70% of Saavn's listeners in India are on Android. We're excited to deliver the best possible user experience to the majority of our listener base with this new app. It's been carefully crafted to optimize the multiple screen experience, and to work seamlessly across a wide range of Android versions and hardware configurations," said Speaking about the new product, Anurag Gupta, CTO and Co-founder of Saavn.

Saavn previously released its 3.0 app for iOS in April 2014, garnering a tremendous response. The new iOS app increased Saavn's daily streams on iOS by 20%, increased radio streams by 7.5x, increased regional language streams by 15% to 50% per language, and increased Saavn's overall daily unique users by 10%.

Anurag Gupta, also notes that the new application will work better with different hardware configurations. For those new to Saavn, it was launched back in 2006. Like Spotify, Pandora and Jango, this service provides music streaming, but focuses mostly on Bollywood content, delivering tracks from latest hits to old classics.

Content is delivered in several languages such as Hindi, English, Punjabi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Malayalam. Users can listen to a wide catalog of music for free by simply searching by song name or artists. Custom playlists can also be created, while pre-defined ones are available too. With the Pro service, the company offers an ad-free experience, offline listening and high quality 320kbps audio streams.
