BCCI's Website hacked by Bangladeshi Hackers
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s official website was hacked over the weekend by a Bangladesh-based hacker. The website was allegedly hacked in the name of Ashik Iqbal Chy and the BCCI homepage reads, “Hacked by Ashik.”
Moreover, the hacker also posted a picture of Bangladesh cricket team with the country’s flag and a message which reads, “Don’t mess up with tigers.”
The defaced website was spotted by NextBigWhat, and a hacker who goes by the name Ashik Iqbal Chy has taken the responsibility. At the time of filing the story, the BCCI website was down and “under maintenance.”
Some links on the site redirected to this FB page, where the admin has put links of the pages which have been hacked.
The reason behind this ‘attack’ on BCCI’s website, on first look, seems to be the latest draft proposal which is creating rifts in the global cricketing world.
With BCCI demanding more control and monetary profit for the “big three” of cricket, i.e. India, Australia and England, the fate of cricket in smaller countries like Bangladesh, New Zealand and others is set to be left in the hands of these three, which is an uncomfortable situation for the rest of the world.
This attack is most likely in response to the proposed structural overhaul of the International Cricket Council (ICC), which could give a lot of decision-making powers to the top cricket boards like BCCI, Cricket Australia (CA) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
