Xiaomi is launching Redmi 1S in India on Tuesday : Report

Following the mega success of Xiaomi Mi3, the Chinese smartphone company plans to launch another entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 1S in the Indian smartphone market before the end of August. According to reports, the company has sent out invitation for an event scheduled for August 26 in New Delhi where it is likely to showcase the Xiaomi Redmi 1S.

Xiaomi has started sending out invites for the event, long after it was announced in July. But we’re still not hearing word on the launch of the Redmi Note device. There are no mysteries to solve when it comes to the said press event since Xiaomi has clearly mentioned that its Global VP Hugo Barra and Redmi 1S will be present there. We also know about the price of the smartphone since it was revealed before. Just in case you missed our older story on it, the rate is pegged at Rs 6999.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S has a 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor along with 1 GB of RAM and a 4.7 inch 720p IPS display and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The device also has 8 GB of internal storage, which is expandable to 32GB using a micro-SD card. The device runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, with the MiUI 5 interface. It also has a 2,000 mAh battery along with an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.6 MP front camera.

The Redmi 1S comes with 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Direct and hotspot functionality, Micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB OTG connectivity options.
