Apple unveils 16 GB iPod touch with rear camera in 6 colors

Apple has quietly updated its cheapest iPod touch device, the 16GB model, which now comes in a range of six colours like its more expensive versions. Previously it was only available in grey.

The update brings the 16-gigabyte iPod touch in line with its larger 32- and 64-gigabyte versions, which are all available in black, space grey, pink, yellow, blue, and (Product)RED.

Apple on Thursday said its 16GB iPod touch portable media player will now be available for Rs 16,900 in India. The 32GB version will be available for Rs 20,900, while the 64GB version will be priced at Rs 24,900.

The device retains the four inch “retina” screen and A5 processor of the previous 16GB version, which was a throwback to the previous generation of iPod touch, but adds a five megapixel iSight camera to the existing FaceTime HD camera.

The update comes as two different iPhones - with 4.7in and 5.5in screens - are rumoured to have gone into production. The current iPhone 5s sports a 4in display.

Apple had launched its 'iPod' range of portable media players in 2001 and its various versions include iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod Touch and iPod Classic.

According to the company's annual report, Apple globally sold over 26.3 million units of iPods in the year ending September 28, 2013.
