Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ officially available on Flipkart at Rs.16,999

Alcatel, on Thursday launched the One Touch Idol X+ in India for Rs. 16,999. The phone has been exclusively launched on Flipkart, and will be available from June 3. The device includes a wearable smartband dubbed as Boomband and JBL headphones.  Alcatel is the second smartphone maker after US-based Motorola which has a  tie-up with Flipkart for its handsets.

The phone comes with an octa core chip from MediaTek which features eight Cortex A7s clocked at 2GHz each. This processing power is clubbed together with 2GB of RAM to deliver a smooth Android experience. Speaking of which, the phone runs on version 4.2 Jelly Bean which is quite a downer considering that entry-level phones have managed to ship with KitKat onboard.

On the upside, there’s a 5-inch 1080p IPS OGS display on the front with Asahi Dragon Trail Glass. Accompanying it is a 2MP webcam, while a 13.1MP camera can be found on the rear with 1080p recording. For storage, there’s 16GB on flash memory, but no microSD card slot. It has 2500 mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 27 hours of 2G talk time, 650 hours of 2G standby time, and continuous music playback of up to 36 hours.

For connectivity it includes 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Direct and DLNA functionality, GPS/ A-GPS, GRPS/ EDGE, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, and stereo FM radio. Alcatel is also offering a Bluetooth-enabled wearable smartband- Boomband in the package for fitness enthusiasts. It informs users by  tracking workouts and exercise activity and also acts as an alarm in case you leave the phone behind. The bundled smartband is only compatible with IDOL X+ for now and is not available separately in the market.


With this launch, Alcatel seems set to re-enter the Indian market in a big way, and launch more of its smartphones and tablets in the near future.
