How to check that someone's try to hack your gmail account
With news of more hacks and leaks emerging every day, its pretty safe to say that you’re not necessarily paranoid if you constantly worry about your email being hacked. Those concerned about their Gmail account being hacked or snooped on can find out if it is so by using a simple tool provided by Google.
Since the NSA revelations, privacy has become a priority for even those who bothered less about revealing a personal detail like birth date here and there on a social network.
Google has provided users with tools right within the Gmail inbox that can help keep your account secured. Here’s how it works:
Now scroll down to the bottom of your inbox and locate a link called “Details”. Clicking on the link would lead to a pop-up window that shows the last 10 times someone accessed the Gmail account, along with how they accessed it (through a browser, an email app, and so on), their IP address, and when they accessed it.
It will also show you not just when your account was accessed but also how it was viewed. You’ll know if the inbox was opened using an email app, browser, smartphone app and the IP address through which it was accessed.
If you see a suspicious device or IP address, you may want to change your password as soon as possible.
To beef up the security, a user can turn on two-factor authentication for the Google account and store the IP addresses of the various systems one uses (work, home, mobile) in order to crosscheck if anything is found fishy.
