Sony announces Sony Xperia Z1 with 20.1 megapixel camera
On Wednesday Sony announces a new smartphone Sony Xperia z1, which is the first smart phone with 20 megapixel camera at IFA trad show in Berlin.
The phone has a 5 inch TFT screen with Full HD resolution. It has 20.1 mega pixel camera rear camera accompanied by G lens and Bionz mobile image processing engine. The Sony Xperia Z1 have almost similar hardware specification such as Sony Xperia Ultra.
It is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz with Adreno 300 Graphics. This device has 2 GB RAM and a aluminum and Glass Body with 16 GB internal storage and support for a micro SD card.
The company said that the device has the "world's leading camera in a smartphone", implying that it can shoot better images than what Nokia's Lumia 1020, which has a 41MP camera, can manage.
Sony said that Z1 would be available in markets across the world in the coming weeks. In India the device is expected to be launched within this month. For now Sony has not revealed the country-specific prices.
Highlighting the camera performance of Z1, Sony said "independent testing has confirmed that Xperia Z1 provides the best overall image quality of all leading smartphones". The camera in Z1 features 1/2.3-inch image sensor, a dedicated chip for image processing and a lens with F 2.0 aperture.
Additionally, Sony is expected to unveil Cybershot QX100 and QX10 'Lens-Style Cameras' that can be attached to any Android or iOS smartphone. The Sony Cyber Shot QX10 is likely to come with a price tag of around $250 and an 18.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom. The QX10 has been also rumoured to come with built-in Optical SteadyShot, to keep the handheld pictures and videos steady and blur-free.
On the other hand, the Sony Cybershot QX100 will be the more expensive of the two lenses and will come at around $500. The QX100 is expected to feature a 20.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor which is identical to the sensor found in the Cyber-shot RX100 II camera. The sensor is paired with the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with 3.6x optical zoom and a BIONZ image processor.
