Sony Xperia Z1 aka Honami will launch in India on September 18

Sony Xperia Z1 (Honami), will launch in India in September 18 at an event in New Delhi, sources have told to BGR India. Sony has assigned Bollywood star Katrina Kaif as the brand ambassador for the device. The fact that Sony will launch the Xperia Z1 within two weeks of its global announcement suggests India will be in the first wave of countries where it will be launched.

As far as its price is concerned, Sony fans will be disappointed to hear that the new Xperia phone might come with a hefty price-tag of around ₹50,000. If the Indian Rupee continues to tumble against the Dollar, be ready to shell out more.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is said to feature a 20-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera that is expected to sport a Sony G-lens and BIONZ image processor. Other rumoured specifications of the Xperia Z1 include a 5.0-inch full-HD display, a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and 2GB of RAM. It's expected to include 16GB internal storage and a 3000mAh battery. The device is said to run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Design wise as the above press image shows, that it could have a metal frame much like the Nokia Lumia 925 and internally it will also have 16GB of memory, a microSD card slot and a 3,000 mAh battery. It will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. We have also heard that the phone will feature an augmented reality app called Info-eye which could work similar to Nokia’s CityLens app on its Lumia devices.
