AeroMobil 2.5 Flying Car with a top speed of 124mph

An incredible flying car has been developed to let drivers skip traffic jams and take to the skies.

The vehicle can be driven on normal roads as well as being flown as a two-seater airplane, as it is able take off and land at any airport, 'opening the door to real door-to-door travel,' according to a Slovakian company.

According to the car’s official website, the Aeromobil flying car’s configuration is like that of an ordinary vehicle, in that it fits in any standard parking space, it can top off in any gas station, and is accustomed to road traffic. Except this one, you know, flies.

The Aeromobil is powered by a Rotax 912 engine, producing a top speed of over 100 mph on land and over 124 mph in the air. Don’t think you can use it to pull yourself out of Monday morning traffic, though; like any plane, it needs a bit of ground (and a take-off speed of 90 mph) to fly.

Built with a steel framework and carbon coating, this flying two-seater weighs 450 kg (992 lbs) and is 6,000mmlong, while its width measures 1,600mm as a car and 8,200mm as a plane. Running this vehicle won’t be cheap: its land fuel consumption is 7.5 liters/100 km, while it burns 15 liters per hour in flight.

While there’s no news yet on when it will go into production (or if it does), an experimental Aeromobil 3.0 prototype is supposedly in the works.
