Nokia Asha 501 Review and Specification : Techmistory

Nokia Asha 501 is designed to be compact in size and super smart in experience. The candy bar phone that is built to perform, runs on the seamless Asha operating system with Java support, and comes in bright bold colors that pep up your life. 

Asha 501 is now up for pre-order on Nokia’s India store for Rs 5,199 on pre-booking. The dual-SIM smart feature phone is available in a multiple fruity colours including white, yellow, red, black, and cyan. Specs-wise it is rather unassuming with its 3-inch display, 3.2-megapixel rear camera, FM radio and a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB of storage. Nokia is also claiming 17 hours of talktime on a single charge, which is unheard of for touchscreen phones.

However, the big deal with the phone is the new Asha UI, which borrows heavily from the MeeGo Harmattan UI seen on the Nokia and can be operated via swipe gestures and has a multitasking feature called Fast Lane. The pricing will be crucial as Nokia hopes the Asha 501 will take on entry-level Android smartphones and had earlier announced it would be priced at $99 before local taxes and subsidies. We would be pleasantly surprised if Nokia manages the Rs 5,199 price tag, considering the current foreign exchange rates.
