Google Reader says adieu to its users

We all have been using Google Reader for quite come time now but needless to say its popularity has gone down over the years. This explains the reason why Google announced in March that it will be shutting down its erstwhile popular Reader interface.

The tool has been widely used by news and media enthusiasts for sourcing headlines, breaking news and news coverage. It has been a one-point resource for most of our needs. Sadly, it's coming to an end today.

To ensure that the readers do not lose the listing of their favourite sites and pages, Google has given the option of a smooth and seamless migration of the data to other service providers.

The reason responsible for the decline popularity of Reader has been a simultaneous growth of social media various including Facebook and Twitter which are newer tools of interactivity and provide fairly good data security to its users.

Launched in 2005, Google Reader is being decommissioned after almost eight years - fairly long life for any application in this fast changing app world. 

Reader will certainly be missed by for various reasons. Goodbye Google Reader.
